Dr. Bob Dubin, NMCA President since April of 2006, passed away on September 14, 2007. Although Dr. Dubin had only been in New Mexico for a few short years, he quickly became an active leader in the NMCA and respected by those that knew him. He had tremendous energy, more ideas than one could imagine and incredible passion for the chiropractic profession. Dr. Dubin became known through the health care community in New Mexico and helped bring attention to chiropractic wherever he went and in whatever he did. Dr. Dubin had a long history working as a Chiropractor and for the betterment of the chiropractic profession and will be sorely missed by everyone, who knew him, from coast to coast. Our sincere condolences go to his family and friends for the loss of a great person! |
Dr.
Michael E. Brown, New NMCA President
Dr. Brown has asked
Dr. Robert Jones, Albuquerque, to fill the position of NMCA Vice President
and Dr. Jones has accepted. Thank you, Dr. Brown and Dr. Jones, for coming forward at a time when you are most needed to see the NMCA through the loss of its President and into a future that will see the association continue to grow and flourish!!

Getting Ready for the 2008 Legislative Session Even though we are now between Legislative Sessions, the work has not stopped!! On June 2, in Santa Fe, August 25 in Albuquerque and September 8 in Las Cruces, we held a series of Legislative Workshops. Linda Siegle, our Lobbyist, presented three hours of instruction on the process involved in getting legislation passed. They were GREAT events and everyone that attended expressed how much they had learned and how much they had not known about the intricacies involved! After each workshop, there
was a reception and we were honored to have Sen. John T. L.
Grubesic and Rep. Jim R. Trujillo in Santa Fe, Rep. Thomas E. Swisstak
and Sen. Kent L. Cravens in Albuquerque and Rep. Jeff Steinborn in Las
Cruces. Sen. Grubesic, Rep. Swisstak and Rep. Steinborn spoke to our
attendees and answered questions about the Legislative process.
Our thanks go to each of them for so graciously giving of their personal
time to help educate our members and thanks to those that came to our
reception and continued that education. Dr. Steve Perlstein, NMCA PAC Chairman, wrote a letter to all New Mexico DCs in September (Click here to read Dr. Perlstein’s letter) containing a plea for support for the PAC and the Legislation that we will be submitting. Since then we have received a number of additional donors through EZPay, a number of DCs that increased their existing PAC donations, and a number of one-time donations. GREAT thanks go to each and every one of the doctors that offered their support to this important Legislation. You are greatly appreciated!! Efforts continue to move
forward toward Legislation for the 2008 Session that will bring health
care to all New Mexicans. Our goal will be to continue to put all efforts
toward Doctors of Chiropractic and chiropractic treatments being included
in this legislation in as broad a manner as possible. Our Lobbyist,
Linda Siegle and will continue to keep us updated through our NMCA list
serve. If you are not on the list serve, and you are a NMCA member,
let me know and I will see that you get enrolled. |
| NMCA’s Your Health Matters To Be Discontinued The Radio Program, Your Health Matters, has been airing on KTBL 1050 AM from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday in the Albuquerque area since March 17, 2007. As you know, Dr. Bob Dubin, our President, was hosting and handling the arrangements for this program every week prior to his illness. Dr. Dubin had a great deal of experience in hosting a radio program and a great deal of knowledge on how to make it a success. The show will continue to air until December 15, 2007, after which time it will be discontinued. We are extremely sorry to report this but considering that we do not have anyone with Dr. Dubin’s expertise and time to give to building this program, it has become necessary. Possibly, in the future, we can do something like this or create another media outreach program. If you have any ideas in this area, please let us know. A great deal of thanks go to all those that listened, hosted and were guests on the program. You have been appreciated and your help has been invaluable! News From Association Headquarters The NMCA continues to support the Doctors of Chiropractic in New Mexico on a daily basis! If you are not a member, please consider becoming one! Supporting your profession supports your right to practice as you choose under the laws of this state. We need your voice and your backing to continue to work on your behalf!! (Click here for an application and EZPay form.) Don’t forget to use our on-line marketplace . . . Fundraising Solutions (Click here to go shopping). This on-line marketplace brings non-dues revenue to the association, which in the long run can help keep dues low and provide funds for projects that benefit chiropractic. So far, there has been little use of this member benefit. I am sure that many of you do your shopping over the internet; and, if you are one that does, please do it through the NMCA website or through the monthly e-mails that you receive!! Using this program does not cost you a thing, can bring you savings and WILL help the NMCA! Fundraising Solutions has over 1,000 top retailers . . . many that you shop, I am sure . . . and it is VERY easy to use!! Please support the association by shopping on-line at www.nmchiro.org!! AND,
DON’T FORGET TO JUST VISIT OUR WEBSITE . . . FREQUENTLY . . .
