Become
a Member of the NMCA for 2008 |
There are many DCs in New Mexico that do not support the work being done by the NMCA by becoming a member but they DO reap the benefits and rewards of that work! If you are one of those DCs, please reconsider your position and join the NMCA! Add your money and your voice to the future of the chiropractic profession in this state. By doing so, you help yourself and you help us continue to serve you in the very best way possible!! And, remember, the convention is one of the many benefits of becoming a member of the NMCA. All the CEUs that you need for re-licensure in a year are provided and included in your dues . . . that is a GREAT deal!! Membership,
convention forms and information can be accessed by clicking
here and are on our website at www.nmchiro.org
linked to the center of the Home Page. Please join us for 2008!!
We need you and appreciate all that you do for the chiropractic profession!!
Thank you in advance!!! |

Getting
Ready for the 2008 Legislative Session Treating at the Roundhouse |
As most of you know, the 2008 Legislative Session is a short session that usually relates to financial matters and education. The only way our legislation can get considered is if it is put on the Governor’s Call list . . . by the Governor, of course. This is something that we cannot count on until it happens or doesn’t happen. As soon as we know, we will let you know! To read an up-date from Dr. Stephen Perlstein, NMCA PAC Chair, click here. In the meantime, we will be treating again at the Roundhouse and REALLY NEED YOUR HELP to fill the slots available. There are 13 days that we will be treating with two DCs in the a.m. and two in the p.m. making a total of 52 available spots to fill. At the time of this publication, only 16 have been filled. Please click here to see what is available and to pick your slot(s)!! Thank you in advance for your willingness to support your profession at the Roundhouse!! The Health Care for New Mexican’s Committee has continued to meet regularly to gather enough information to prepare legislation for the 2008 Legislative Session that will provide insurance coverage for all New Mexicans. A copy of the highlights of the Governor’s latest plan provided by Linda Siegle, NMCA’s Lobbyist, is available by clicking here. Our goal will, of course, be to see that Doctors of Chiropractic and chiropractic treatments are included in this legislation in as broad a manner as possible. Ms. Siegle will continue to keep us updated through our NMCA list serve. If you are not on the list serve and are a NMCA member, let me know and I will see that you get enrolled. |
NMCA
Fall Seminar With Dr. Michael Taylor ~~ Chiropractic Nutrient Pharmacotherapy |
The NMCA Fall Seminar with Dr. Michael Taylor was a huge success. Thank you Dr. Taylor for a wonderful and informative weekend! There were approximately 60 Doctors of Chiropractic in attendance and I heard nothing but rave reviews of the material presented by Dr. Taylor and for his presentation of that material. Once our legislation passes, we hope to have Dr. Taylor return to do Modules II and III in this series containing information that will be a requirement for DCs who wish to acquire the Advanced Practice Chiropractic designation that the legislation will bring about. Dr. Ron Berg of Gallup donated a beautiful Navajo Rug for a raffle during the weekend and each of the businesses that were present, The Key Company, HEEL and Nutri-West, donated gifts to be raffled off. It was an unexpected and delightful addition to the weekend event!! Thanks so much to each of the above for their wonderful contributions!! Pictures of the weekend will be on our website in the Picture Gallery in the near future. |
New
Carrier for Medicare Part B in NM ~~ Transition from Pinnacle to TrailBlazer |
Over the last several weeks, I have been a participant in two conference calls surrounding the transition from Pinnacle to TrailBlazer, contracted carriers for CMS. It is a requirement for CMS to do competitive bidding every five years at a minimum with four one-year renewal options. The current contract was awarded to TrailBlazer in August of 2007 and the transition to TrailBlazer from Pinnacle has a cutover date of March 3, 2008, for Medicare Part B in New Mexico. During the next months you will be receiving a great deal of information to help you through this transition. The NMCA website, www.nmchiro.org, will have the updated information as it comes through. You will be able to access this information from clicking on the center of the Home Page. This is a BIG DEAL and it is extremely important that you stay up-to-date on what is occurring. Click here for more information and for access to current information and the TrailBlazer website. |

News
From Association Headquarters |
|
This will be our last on-line Journal. The consensus of the profession in NM and our advertisers is that a printed Journal is much more desirable; so, we are going back to printing the NMCA Journal and mailing it to all actively practicing DCs in the state, member or not. We will be doing only two Journals a year, June and December, so that we can consolidate articles, information and advertising. I hope this change will meet the needs of the profession and the businesses that support the profession. We will also be providing the Journal as an attachment over the list serve in Adobe format for those that prefer reading it on-line. As always, the back issues of the Journal will be placed on our website on the Articles Page in the Archives. Don’t forget to use our on-line marketplace . . . Fundraising Solutions (Click here to go shopping). This on-line marketplace brings non-dues revenue to the association, which in the long run can help keep dues low and provide funds for projects that benefit chiropractic. So far, there has been little use of this member benefit. I am sure that many of you do your shopping over the internet; and, if you are one that does, please do it through the NMCA website or through the monthly e-mails that you receive!! Using this program does not cost you a thing, can bring you savings and WILL help the NMCA! Fundraising Solutions has over 1,000 top retailers . . . many that you shop, I am sure . . . and it is VERY easy to use!! Please support the association by shopping on-line at www.nmchiro.org!!
|
AND,
DON’T FORGET TO JUST VISIT OUR WEBSITE . . . FREQUENTLY . . .
AT WWW.NMCHIRO.ORG It is the NMCA’s on-going pleasure to serve the Chiropractic Community in New Mexico and all those that support the work of Doctors of Chiropractic!! Please feel free to contact me at the association headquarters at any time at 505-280-0689 or jaeni13@aol.com! I will always be happy to hear from you and help you in any way that I can! With warm regard,
