Dear Colleagues
Well, another NMCA convention is in the books and what a convention
it was. The speakers were informative with well-prepared material
for the attendees. It was also good to see old friends again and learn
what they have been up to. This year was special because I met and
talked with 5 DC’s new to the state and this was their first
NMCA convention. WOW.
I would like to thank all the New Mexico DC’s that were speakers
at the convention. Great job doctors. As I listened to Dr Beatty,
I was reminded of the history of our profession and what has been
accomplished during chiropractics first century. Now, I am excited
about the changes that will be coming in the next century and excited
that New Mexico is at the forefront of those changes.
I am pleased to announce that the NMCA has entered into a joint promotional
agreement with Alternative Medicine Integration Group, LP. AMI is
noted for its program with HMO Illinois, a BCBS company where the
Doctor of Chiropractic is the primary care portal of access for patient
care. This program has been very successful for the past 10 years
in consistently demonstrating significant reduction in hospitalizations,
outpatient surgeries and pharmaceutical use. Through AMI’s “Patient
Outcomes-Based Data Collection & Analysis Program,” AMI
has consistently demonstrated the value of chiropractic care to the
insurance industry. AMI is also willing to help the NMCA in promotion
of the “Advanced Chiropractic Practice Act” to payers
concerning the overall benefits of chiropractic care.
NMCA membership is at an all time high at 210 members. I would like
to thank everyone involved with talking to and encouraging non-member
doctors to join the association. With a strong association, we, the
profession, can accomplish anything.
As the profession moves into its 2nd century, it is important for
each of us to remember our history and employ new knowledge, not to
replace the past, but to enhance the future of the profession.
Yours in Health Through Chiropractic,
Dr. M. E. Brown, DC
President, NMCA
